Rich and Creamy!

Are you familiar with Ogbono? Ogbono soup, is a Nigerian dish made with ground dry Ogbono seeds. Ogbono is the seeds of African Mangoes, which have been peeled, cleaned, and dried. They have a somewhat tart and smokey taste and might taste bitter if not well cooked. Ground Ogbono seeds are used as a flavour enhancer and a thickener, for soup and stew dishes; and changes the colour of soups to a darker colour.

If you want to try some authentic West African food and explore different tastes, we highly recommend giving Ogbono soup a try.

  • Rich in Nutrients: Ogbono mango seeds are a good source of nutrients, including protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They provide essential nutrients needed for overall health and well-being, such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin C.
  • Support Digestive Health: Ogbono seeds are rich in dietary fiber, which plays a crucial role in supporting digestive health. Fiber helps promote regular bowel movements, prevent constipation, and support the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut. Consuming ogbono seeds may help maintain a healthy digestive system.
  • Regulate Blood Sugar Levels: Some research suggests that ogbono seeds may have beneficial effects on blood sugar levels. They contain soluble fiber, which can help slow down the absorption of sugar into the bloodstream and prevent spikes in blood glucose levels. This may be particularly beneficial for individuals with diabetes or those at risk of developing the condition.
  • Promote Heart Health: Ogbono seeds contain compounds like unsaturated fats and antioxidants that may help promote heart health. Unsaturated fats can help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, while antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in the body, both of which are risk factors for heart disease.
